In my sister's jeep before going to see The Avengers last night
Sister: We talked abut Obama's stance on gay marriage today in History...
Me: Oh,yeah?
Sister: I used you as an example, I hope you don't mind.
Me: Not at all. What'd you say?
Sister: Well, I was the only one completely for it. Everyone else was against it or undecided. My teacher asked me why, and I said, "Sir, my sister is gay. And I know that she would one day love to be able to legally call her partner her wife, and i think she should have whatever makes her happy. Gay people shouldn't have to deal with people telling them it's wrong. She's a good person, and she deserves to be just as happy as anybody else. No, I'm not gay, but I'll stand by my sister because i love her. And i don't give a damn what any of you think."
Me: *Tears in my eyes* That made my life, hon.
Sister: *holds my hand at the red light* You know i meant every word, right?
Me: I do now.
I have the best sister in the world.
